Kathy Davey presents her most recent work to you reflecting her love of glass and beads.

Her glass creations began with a stained glass class in 1990, where she learned the copper foil technique.  In 2005, she started her journey to learn warm glass techniques, including fusing, slumping, casting and glass painting.  Using a kiln, she manipulates glass using temperatures as high as 1700ºF to achieve the desired effect.  With thanks to the internet, she is self-taught in this area.  Her photo frames combine all learned techniques in some form or fashion.  Some are fused, some slumped, with most being assembled using the copper foil method.

Her jewelry pieces began with beaded bracelets in 2002, then she grew her work to include necklaces and earrings.  Kathy creates jewelry that ranges from bead woven pieces to beautifully strung strands that typically combine glass beads with semi-precious stones.   She loves to work with color and achieves a subtle, natural look.  Her inspiration is, primarily, from nature.

Kathy is continually learning and mastering new techniques, so be on the lookout for something new every year.  Currently, her focus is on creating handmade glass pendants to add to her jewelry creations.

Born and raised in Canada, Kathy currently lives in the East Tennessee countryside with her husband.   Both are currently working on building Kathy’s permanent Sugar Shack Studio down in the hollow by the catfish pond.
